Top Tip for the Well-Heeled
Hidden on a backstreet near Place Vendome is a well-kept secret of many a well-heeled Parisienne: the boutique Gianvito Rossi. Son of the famous Sergio, Gianvito has followed his daddy’s footsteps and created a stunning collection of ladies shoes, with a clear emphasis on sexy femininity, if not downright vampishness. First launched in 2007, his brand has been fawned over by stars like Gwyneth Paltrow, while Ginavito himself has steered clear of the limelight, preferring, in would seem, to concentrate on his craft.
And what is so remarkable about his craft? Apart from the undeniable aesthetic appeal of his shoes, which range from elegantly simple to wonderfully whimsical (fur-cuffed stilettos anyone?) Gianvito Rossi has managed to achieve what few others have even attempted to do with their fancy footwear – make them wearable. Some might even say – gasp – comfortable. His vertiginous heels are cleverly placed to provide a sense of stability and balance, without losing an iota of FMP appeal, proving that killer heels don’t need to be killers.
